Through model selection, material upgrades, and protective modifications, they can be tailored to a wide range of operating environments—from standard and clean workshops to outdoor, humid/corrosive, and high-risk explosion-proof settings. Different operating environments impose vastly different requirements regarding structural materials, protection ratings, lubrication media, and safety configurations; indiscriminate selection leads to drastically reduced equipment lifespan, frequent malfunctions, and failure to meet safety standards. This article outlines specialized selection strategies, protection standards, and application values for six typical industrial operating conditions, ensuring a precise match between equipment and the specific operational environment.
Standard dry workshops represent the most fundamental application scenario for electric hoists, covering tasks such as machining, component assembly, general material handling, and mold changing—environments free from dust, corrosive agents, or flammable/explosive substances. For these conditions, standard CD1/MD1 wire rope hoists and standard electric chain hoists are the preferred choices. Featuring an IP54 protection rating and M3–M4 duty classifications, they meet the demands of frequent, routine lifting operations. These standard models offer excellent cost-performance ratios, mature designs, interchangeable parts, and ease of maintenance. With a comprehensive load capacity range (0.5t to 20t), they are perfectly suited for all types of light-duty lifting, replacing manual handling and outdated, rudimentary lifting equipment. They significantly boost production efficiency and reduce labor intensity, making them the standard lifting solution for small and medium-sized manufacturing enterprises.
Clean workshop and precision manufacturing environments—including pharmaceutical, food processing, electronic component, optical instrument, and dust-free laboratory facilities—demand strict adherence to cleanliness standards: no dust, oil, rust, or falling contaminants, alongside low-noise operation. For this operating environment, the use of standard carbon steel wire rope hoists is strictly prohibited; preference is given to clean-room electric chain hoists featuring aluminum alloy housings. The unit utilizes stainless steel chains and fasteners, along with dust-free, food-grade grease. Its surface is smooth—preventing dust accumulation and rust flaking—and it operates quietly without dripping oil. With no exposed rusty parts or dust-trapping structures, the equipment directly meets Class 10,000 and Class 100,000 cleanroom standards. For outdoor, humid, rainy, or coastal environments prone to salt-spray corrosion, the primary challenges are rust, moisture ingress in electrical circuits, lubrication failure, and component corrosion or degradation. These conditions require enhanced anti-corrosion electric hoists. The steel structure undergoes a dual-layer anti-corrosion process (hot-dip galvanizing plus fluorocarbon coating), while motors and electrical enclosures feature sealed, waterproof designs rated at IP65. Wiring utilizes waterproof, insulated cables with sealed terminals. Galvanized, rust-resistant wire ropes and anti-corrosion alloy steel chains are used, paired with temperature-resistant, anti-corrosive grease. This effectively withstands rain, intense sunlight, and salt-spray corrosion, preventing equipment failure due to rust, making it suitable for outdoor storage, open-air production lines, and coastal plant operations.
In high-risk environments involving chemicals, dust, or flammable and explosive materials, specialized explosion-proof electric hoists are mandatory. The unit complies with the Ex d II BT4 explosion-proof standard; components such as motors, contactors, switches, and junction boxes are all explosion-proof certified. The design eliminates electrical sparks and open-flame hazards, and the mechanical structure prevents impact sparks, making it suitable for chemical processing, spray painting, and dusty workshops, as well as the handling of flammable or explosive materials.
