As equipment legally classified as "special equipment" in China, electric hoists must strictly adhere to national standards and regulatory requirements throughout their entire lifecycle. Rigorous compliance management—spanning design and manufacturing, factory inspection, on-site installation acceptance, daily operation, annual inspection, and eventual decommissioning—is essential for enterprises to avoid regulatory penalties, prevent safety accidents, and ensure safe production. All compliant equipment must be designed and manufactured in strict accordance with these standards. National standards mandate that the safety factor for the entire hoist unit be no less than 3.5; metal structures must be free of cracks, permanent deformation, and severe corrosion, and welding processes must meet quality requirements. Braking systems must be of the fail-safe (power-off locking) type, ensuring responsive braking without slippage. Mandatory safety features include dual-direction (up/down) travel limiters, overload protection, anti-hook-dislodgement devices, and emergency stop buttons—none of which may be omitted. Electrical systems must meet standards for insulation performance, grounding resistance, and ingress protection ratings to eliminate risks of electric leakage or short circuits. Manufacturers must strictly implement a four-level inspection system for factory acceptance, covering visual inspection, structural inspection, performance testing, and safety inspection. Visual inspections verify the equipment's coating, welding, completeness of accessories, and label clarity; structural inspections check component dimensions, assembly precision, bolt tightening quality, and structural stability; performance inspections—conducted via no-load, rated-load, and 1.25x overload tests—assess operational smoothness, transmission efficiency, and braking reliability (passing criteria include no deformation, abnormal noise, slippage, or stalling during full-load operation); safety inspections systematically verify the functionality of all safety devices to ensure sensitive triggering, precise action, and effective protection. Equipment may only be delivered after passing all inspection items; non-compliant equipment is strictly prohibited from entering the market.
On-site installation acceptance is a critical step for compliant equipment deployment; installation must be performed by entities qualified for special equipment installation, and acceptance must be conducted by qualified third-party personnel. The acceptance process comprises five core modules: verification of foundations and rails, inspection of mechanical assembly precision, electrical safety testing, load performance testing, and safety function verification. Rails must meet standards for flatness, straightness, and load-bearing capacity; assembly clearances, wheel gauge, and verticality must comply with national tolerance standards; electrical insulation, grounding resistance, and protection ratings must be compliant; no-load, rated-load, and overload tests must all pass; and safety devices must be 100% effective. Upon completion, a full set of technical documentation is compiled, and special equipment usage registration is processed; official operation may only commence after successful acceptance, and the use of unregistered or unaccepted equipment for production is strictly prohibited.
Electric hoists must undergo an annual special equipment inspection performed by a third-party agency recognized by market regulatory authorities. Core annual inspection items include structural safety, mechanical performance, electrical safety, safety devices, and wear and tear of components. Key checks focus on identifying risks such as cracks, deformation, corrosion, or loose bolts on the hoist body; testing braking performance, transmission status, and operational smoothness; verifying electrical insulation, grounding, and wiring condition; comprehensively testing the effectiveness of safety devices; and assessing the wear status of consumable parts like wire ropes, chains, and brake pads (components exceeding wear limits must be replaced). Equipment failing the annual inspection must be immediately taken out of service for rectification and may only be reused after passing a re-inspection. At the same time, national standards clearly define the criteria for equipment decommissioning. Equipment exhibiting permanent structural deformation, irreparable cracks, brake failure, damaged or missing safety devices, or severe aging beyond repair value must be mandatorily scrapped and deregistered; continued operation of defective or expired equipment is strictly prohibited.
